Walking through Terminal 21 in Pattaya recently, I was delighted to find the Pattaya Fruit Fest with a wide range of creative and healthy products. In addition to vast selections of fruit, some of which I had never seen before, there were specialities that included Corn Juice, every variation of Durian and, for me the star of the event, Rice Tea!
Rice tea is an amazingly healthy drink, it smells wonderful and tastes really good. It has many health benefits promoting natural healing and healthy recovery. Most suitable for those suffering with problems from sugar, fat and excess weight, it’s easy to drink, has a calming effect on the stomach and promotes good sleep. Drinking good quality brown rice tea is supposed to balance the body and provide many health benefits.
OYU tea originates from an area of organic rice fields in the Dom Tum District of Nakhon Pathom Province using home grown, organic brown rice. Quite unique and different from tea produced from tea leaves, OYU tea is free of caffeine but when you drink it ‘feels’ like tea with a wonderful aromatic flavour of the brown rice. The tea comes in convenient tea bags and another unique point is that you can use these bags 3 times. It’s not a sales gag, it’s true, I have tried it and get three good cups from each bag. The tea comes in 2 sizes, one containing 15 sachets (THB.290) that are vacuum wrapped for freshness and space. The bag has a convenient zip lock to keep the remaining bags fresh.
Brown Rice Tea is also known as Genmaicha (especially in Japan) but then this is mixed with green tea. Hyeonmi-cha has a deep history in Korea and Vietnam and is now gaining popularity in Thailand and around the world. The tea is rich in polyphenols, contains selenium, vitamin B, fibres, protein, calcium, magnesium, manganese, iron to mention just a few. Some of the beneficial effects of Brown Rice Tea include: Regulates Thyroid Hormones, Improves Blood Flow, helps with weight loss, removes toxins from the body, improves brain function, can help with asthma, relaxes and improves sleep patterns, reduces bloating and improves digestion, relieves stress and helps maintain focus, balances blood sugar levels, promotes longevity and youthful skin, improves dental health and reduces bad breath, may lower the risk of cancer and also reduces bad cholesterol and increases good cholesterol,
I like the flavour, during the day it does not cause drowsiness yet drunk before sleep it has a calming effect and helps me to enjoy a good night’s rest. I also really like the product! It’s innovative, professionally packed and the ‘brown rice tea’ really does have a lovely flavour. Highly recommended!
