The Elements Krabi Resort is quite a unique concept. There are some factors which may not suit you but there are more than enough elements that have created a wonderful and relaxing holiday retreat. If an idyllic Thai beach is your prime requirement, you may be disappointed, however if you are looking for an enchanting and relaxing destination away from the madding crowds, then the Element Resort Krabi is perfection personified with Tub Kaek and Klong beaches just short drives away.
In the concept and planning of The Elements Resort, an immense amount of time and effort has been invested to create an inspiring resort that offers a comprehensive range of facilities for all age groups and target audiences. Tremendous attention to detail, harmonious design, colour schemes and creative use of flowing water set the magical charm of the resort. Located on the unpretentious Laem Bong Beach, the entrance from the road is modest yet the warm ambience of the open walled Reception area sets the charm. During my stay, every approach to the charming receptionists was met with broad smiles and a strong desire to please their guests.
There are different categories of rooms mostly facing the pool. This is just a 3-storey building with the ground floor rooms opening directly to the extensive pool. The rooms are generous in size, stylish yet without the glitz and often unnecessary lavishness associated with many up-market resorts. Furnishings and decorations are solid and the hand carvings are of local origin. There are small details throughout each room that indicate the care and attention to detail, yet there is a simplicity and comfort to the general ambience.
The rooms are well equipped with TV, CD/Radio, laptop sized safe, mini bar, large balcony/terrace, kettle and excellent A/C. Bathrooms are well proportioned with shower and bathtub. Large towels and colourful amenities complete the ambience. Note that the amenities are re-filled and eco friendly!
The main restaurant is relaxed and informal whist the cuisine is creative Thai and Western. As always, the staff are attentive, charming and friendly. The breakfast buffet is extensive without being copious and offers both Asian and Western favourites. A lovely, relaxed way to start each day.
The resort does offer a range of facilities that include a good-sized fitness room, library with pool table, children’s room and a substantial spa.
I was attending a Conference in the resort and can highly recommend the facilities and general ambience for a conference, meeting or retreat. The Meeting room is of a good size with natural daylight and all technical requirements. The location and complete tranquillity of the resort is perfectly suited to enclaves or retreats requiring a peaceful ambiance to procure team building or participation without distractions.
Whilst the beach is disappointing, the local area offers an insight into southern Thailand village life. Despite big name resorts being nearby there is no evidence of mass tourism until one reaches Ao Nang which is about 30 minutes away.
Despite extensive coverage the WiFi is intermittent with an irritating requirement to continuously log on. However if this is the only complaint, it is minor and encouraged me to use the pool more!
Highly recommended for a relaxing vacation, but not as a true beach resort.
