Bangkok is served by two major airports. The newer Suvarnabhumi International Airport and the original Dong Mueang. A majority of long-range International flights depart from Suvarnabhumi and Asian flights and domestic from Don Mueang.
Reaching the airports (and Bangkok) is extremely easy from Jomtien as the Jomtien Airport Express bus leaves from the terminal on Thapphyra Road next to the Foodmart supermarket to Suvarnabhumi airpot. Busses depart at 30 minute intervals from 06:30 every day with a journey time of approximately 1 hour 40 minutes (depending on traffic)
The Airport Express ‘Terminal’ for the bus to Suvarnabhumi, is very small but their service efficient with busses coming and going throughout the day. The cost of a one-way ticket is just THB.120 including 1 suitcase up to 20kgs. If you have large or multiple bags be prepared for extra charges but these are still low! Whilst they are full sized buses, seating at some times can be limited. It is possible to book your space in advance, just visit the office a day before, purchase your ticket and your seat for the next day is guaranteed! Use this link
Departure is generally on time and despite the Pattaya sign on the bus they travel straight out of Jomtien on the Tepprasit Road to connect to the motorway. It is a non-stop journey and you should allow 1 ½ to 2 hours depending on traffic (possibly longer Sunday afternoon/evening).
On arrival at Suvarnabhumi airport the bus drop-off is at the Departures Level 4. If you are departing from this airport, proceed through the doors and signs will indicate which is your check-in area.
If you are proceeding on to downtown Bangkok use the extremely convenient Airport Rail Link located on Level 1. The Airport Rail Link into Bangkok can connect you with the MRT (underground) at Makkasan Station (THB.35) or directly to the centre and Skytrain at Phayathai Station for THB.45. Please note that the ticket office is being replaced with automatic machines so have small notes or change handy. The journey time to Phayathai (end of the line) is 30 mins.
If your journey from Jomtien continues from Don Mueang airport, then read on! If you have confirmed flights from Dong Mueang Airport, there is a free shuttle busrunning regularly from Suvarnabhumi to Don Mueang. The Jomtien-BKK airport bus drop-off is on Level 4 Departures. You will need to make you way down 2 floors to Level 2 and look for Exit 3. As you come out of this door you will see the AOT Shuttle Bus counter on your right. Show them proof of your flight and you are on! The shuttle busses leave regularly during the day and the journey time should be approx. 1-1 ¼ hour. I would recommend that you calculate at least 1 ½ hours for this segment of your journey to allow for the departure time and excessive Bangkok traffic. Whilst the bus uses only the Expressway delays regularly occur so it is better to allow more time and enjoy a coffee at the airport if you arrive early!
Whilst the BKK-DMK shuttle is a full-sized bus, it has been adapted for luggage and wheelchairs, as a result there are only 23 seats. The shuttle stops only at the International Terminal however it is just a short walk to the Domestic Terminal.
